Guide · Tipping in Barcelona
Tipping your driver in Barcelona
Travellers from North America often ask whether they should tip the driver. In Spain tipping is not expected the way it is in the United States: your fixed price already covers the service, and anything extra is a personal choice.

In Spain
How tipping works here
Service is included in prices in Spain and staff are paid a wage, not tips. Locals often round up or leave small change in a café or restaurant, and a little more after an especially good service, but nobody expects a percentage on top of the bill.
The same goes for private transfers. Your price is fixed per vehicle and paid when you book: it includes the driver, the luggage, the meet and greet at the airport and the free waiting time. The driver will not ask for anything more for the agreed service.
One fixed price for the whole vehicle, luggage included, shown before you pay.

When travellers choose to tip
- After a long wait for a delayed flight or help with a lot of luggage, some travellers leave a small tip in cash.
- Tips go directly to the driver; they are not part of the booking or the invoice.
- Extras that are not tips, such as waiting beyond the free time or more luggage than booked, are agreed with the driver before you set off.
